Relationship between life habits and hypertension control rate in hypertensive patients in Longmen region of Nanchong City *North Sichuan Medical College, Nanchong 637000, China

Abstract:Objective To understand the epidemiology of hypertension in Longmen region of Nanchong City, and analyze the influence of life habits on hypertension control. Methods An epidemiological survey was carried out in hypertensive patients in this region by using overall random sampling method, including basic information, relevant knowledge understanding, life habits and treatment, and then all data was analyzed by using SPSS19.0 statistical software. Results The control rate of hypertension was 51.1%, which increased as patients’ age increased. The awareness rate of hypertension was 35.2%. The favorable life habits, such as smoking cessation, abstinence, appropriate salty diet and weight control, improved significantly the control rate of hypertension (P<0.05). Conclusion Life habits is closely correlated to the control rate of hypertension. The awareness rate of hypertension is lower in rural residents. Hypertensive patients should correct unhealthy life habits, learn more hypertension-related knowledge, get reasonable treatment, and improve quality of life.
