Abstract:Objective To review the correlation between gene G-308A polymorphism in tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) and essential hypertension (EH) in Chinese population. Methods The databases of PubMed, EMbase, CBM, CNKI and WangFang Database were retrieved with computer for collecting the case-controlled studies about the correlation between gene G-308A polymorphism in TNF-α and EH in Chinese population from establishing time of databases to Sept. 1, 2013. After literature screening rigorously according to inclusion and exclusion criteria, data extracting and quality reviewing by 2 reviewers independently, a Meta-analysis was conducted by using Stata12.0 software. The publication bias was detected by using Egger linear regression. Results There were totally 6 studies included involving 1203 EH cases and 1354 health control cases. The results of Meta-analysis showed that in Chinese population, the risk of EH was higher in population with GA genotype than that in population with GC genotype (OR=1.54, 95%CI:1.23-1.92, P<0.001), was higher in population with AA+GA genotype than that in population with GG genotype (OR=1.59, 95%CI:1.28-1.98, P<0.001), and was higher in population with allele A than that in population with allele G (OR=1.58, 95%CI:1.29-1.95, P<0.001). Conclusion Allele A of gene G-308A polymorphism in TNF-αis correlated to incidence of EH. The above conclusion requires further studies to identification because of limited quantity and quality in this study.
