Abstract:Objective To review the right ventricular function in patients with systemic scleroderma (SS) through detecting right ventriclar Tei index by using pulsed wave Doppler (PW), and observe the influence of pulmonary hypertension (PH) on right ventricular Tei index. Methods The patients were chosen from the First Affiliated Hospital of Baotou Medical College from Jan. 2009 to Jan. 2010 as case group (n=30), and other 30 cases of health persons were chosen as control group. The right ventricular Tei index was detected in two groups by using PW, including the time from ending of tricuspid flow spectrum wave A to beginning of tricuspid flow spectrum wave E (a) and beginning and ending time of pulmonary artery flow spectrum [b, Tei index=(a-b)/b]. The pulmonary arterial systolic pressure (PASP) was detected by using tricuspid regurgitation, and correlation between Tei index and PASP was reviewed by using Pearson correlation analysis. Results ①Tei index was significantly higher in case group than that in control group [(0.36±0.13) vs. (0.23±0.08), P<0.05]. ②Tei index was positively correlated to PASP (r=0.702, P<0.001). Conclusion The right ventricular Tei index increased significantly in SS patients, which can be taken as an important indicator of PH.
