Abstract:Objective To investigate the curative effect of comprehensive intervention in aged patients with type 2 diabetes in community. Methods The aged patients (n=242) with type 2 diabetes (diagnosed within 9 months) were chosen and randomly divided into control group and intervention group (each n=121). The control group was given routine hypoglycemic therapy and blood sugar monitoring, and intervention group was given additionally the interventions of exercise, diet and psychology. The changes of body mass index (BMI), fasting blood glucose (FBG), blood pressure and blood fat were compared between two groups after 9 months. Results The proportion of FBG controlled to reach the standard was higher in intervention group than that in control group (84.3%vs. 71.9%, P=0.017). In control group, FBG decreased after treatment and other indexes had no statistical difference than before (P<0.05). In intervention group, the levels of BMI [(22.18±6.30) kg/m2 vs. (24.34±5.76) kg/m2], FBG[(6.14±1.40) mmol/L vs. (6.75±1.80) mmol/L], systolic blood pressure [(141.25±19.73) mmHg vs. (147.05±21.55) mmHg], total cholesterol [(1.69±0.72) mmol/L vs. (1.78±0.91) mmol/L], triglyceride [(1.71±0.69) mmol/L vs. (1.82±0.78) mmol/L] and low-density lipoprotein [(2.82±0.75) mmol/L vs. (2.91±0.92) mmol/L] were all lower after the intervention than before (P<0.05). Conclusion The comprehensive intervention in community can improve the effectiveness of blood sugar control and reduce the levels of blood sugar, blood pressure and blood fat in aged patients with type 2 diabetes, which is worth popularization in chronic diseases management in communities.
