Abstract:Objective To investigate the predictive value of red cell distribution width (RDW) to the mortality of chronic heart failure (CHF). Methods The databases of PubMed, Embase and CNKI were retrieved to collect the studies about the relationship between RDW and the mortality of CHF. The hazard ratio (HR) and 95%confidence interval (CI) of the mortality of CHF were calculated by using Stata12.0 software. Results There were totally 6 studies included involved 13 502 cases. The analysis on homogeneity showed that all eligible studies had heterogeneity (I2=79.9%, P<0.001). The combined HR was 1.18 (95%CI:1.10-1.25, P<0.001) after using random effect model. Conclusion RDW is an index for predicting the mortality of CHF.
