Overview of design and evaluation of clinical trials of traditional Chinese medicine in treating pediatric bronchial asthma

Abstract:Bronchial asthma is a common chronic airway disease in children.Based on domestic and international clinical trial protocols or reports in the past decade,the Global Initiative for Asthma,diagnostic and treatment guidelines,and technical guidance for clinical trials,combined with our team's practical experience,this study systematically reviews the essential aspects of clinical trials of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)in treating pediatric bronchial asthma,such as clinical positioning,efficacy evaluation,overall trial design,diagnostic criteria,participant selection and withdrawal,treatment protocols,and safety monitoring.The aim is to provide scientific and standardized technical guidance for such clinical trials,thereby promoting further development of TCM-based drug research and development for pediatric asthma.
