Abstract：Potency assay for mesenchymal stromal/stem cells(MSCs)plays a crucial role in product development,process development,product release,clinical use,and post marketing regulation.There are yet no standard and standardized tests for potency of MSCs.The complex and unclear mechanisms of MSCs,variability of MSCs,and lack of reference materials are confounders for achieving sustainable potency measurements.In this review,the fate in vivo and mechanisms of MSCs were described firstly,and then the factors that affect the potency of MSCs were also summarized.Finally,the requirements for the determination of MSCs potency and the current problems were put forward,and solutions were proposed,in order to provide references for the scientific supervision and industrial development of MSCs in China.
