Impact of external technology acquisition on the innovation performance of bio-pharmaceutical industry

Abstract：Objective:To study the impact and pathway of external technology acquisition on innovation performance of biopharmaceutical industry.Methods:Panel data of biopharmaceutical industry from 2011 to 2023 were selected,and empirical research was conducted using a fixed effects model and stepwise regression method.Results:Technology purchase has significant positive correlation with industrial innovation performance,while technology introduction does not show a promoting effect.Internal research and development play a transmission role between external technology acquisition and industrial innovation performance.External technology ac-quisition has varying impacts on industrial innovation performance across different regions and types of inno-vation.Conclusion:External technology acquisition has a certain promoting effect on the innovative develop-ment of biopharmaceutical industry.It is recommended to improve the technology transfer system,leverage the innovative effects of external technologies,and build a dual track driving mechanism for technological innova-tion with independent research and development as the core.We should encourage cross regional flow of do-mestic technology and promote collaborative development of industrial innovation.
