Research progress in chemical composition,pharmacological effects and quality markers of Folium Nelumbinis

Abstract：As a traditional medicinal and food resource,Folium Nelumbinis has a long history of extensive application.In recent years,with the advancement in natural product research,the chemical composition of Folium Nelumbinis has been systematically characterized.The identified key bioactive constituents include flavonoids,aporphine-type alkaloids(notably nuciferine),volatile oils,and polysaccharides.Modern pharmacological studies reveal that Folium Nelumbinis extracts demonstrate significant therapeutic potentials:regulation of glucose and lipid metabolism,anti-tumor activity,anti-inflammatory effects,cardiovascular and cerebrovascular protection.This paper comprehensively reviews recent progress in elucidating the chemical constituents and pharmacological mechanisms of Folium Nelumbinis.Furthermore,applying the quality marker(Q-marker)framework,we propose candidate quality markers based on traditional Chinese medicine theory correlations,Origin and harvest time,and network pharmacology predictions.Our preliminary analysis suggests that nuciferine,quercetin,kaempferol,rutin,N-nornuciferine,and specific volatile oils may serve as the Q-marker candidates.These findings provide a theoretical foundation for establishing standardized quality control protocols for Folium Nelumbinis products.
