A new drug for schizophrenia:Cobenfy

Abstract：The U.S.Food and Drug Administration(FDA)has officially approved Cobenfy(xanomeline and trospium chloride)for the oral treatment of adult schizophrenia on September 26,2024.Cobenfy is the first antipsychotic with a potentially novel pharmacological mechanism since the introduction of chlorpromazine in 1952 and is the first completely new drug in decades to receive FDA approval for the treatment of schizophrenia.In completed clinical trials,Cobenfy has shown significant efficacy in schizophrenia.This article provides an overview of Cobenfy's basic information,mechanism of action,pharmacodynamics,pharmacokinetics,safety,and clinical efficacy.
