Abstract:Migraine is recognized as the sixth most common disability disease.5-HT1B/1D receptor agonists(i.e.tratans)are currently the first-line drugs for the treatment of moderate to severe migraine attacks;however, they are prohibited for use in the patients with cardiovascular and/or cerebrovascular diseases due to their 5-HT1B mediated vasoconstriction.Selective 5-HT1F receptor agonists are effective in the acute treatment of migraines, and their affinity for 5-HT1F receptors is much higher than that of vasoconstrictor 5-HT1B receptors, thus having no vasoconstrictive effect. In 2019,lasmiditan was approved by the FDA as a selective 5-HT1F receptor agonist for the acute treatment of migraines. This article uses the newly developed HimmPat database to conduct a search and statistical analysis of patent applications for 5-HT1F receptor agonists. It analyzes the overall trend of patent applications, regional distribution, the application status of important applicants, and the technical field distribution of patent applications,as well as the core patents of key products. The aim is to reflect the current status of patent applications for 5-HT1F receptor agonists, reveal the development trend of 5-HT1F receptor agonists, and provide relevant suggestions for domestic pharmaceutical enterprises and research institutions.
