Abstract:Objective:To investigate the clinical significance of serum levels of total cholesterol(TC),high-density lipoprotein(HDL)and lipoprotein(a)[Lp(a)]in the prognosis of patients with colorectal cancer. Methods:A retrospective study was conducted in 97 selected cases of colorectal cancer, including 21 cases of stage Ⅰ,25 cases of stage Ⅱ,36 cases of stage Ⅲ,15 cases of stage Ⅳ,and 33 healthy subjects in the same period as the control group.Fasting venous blood samples were collected from all patients in the morning and the levels of serum TC,HDL and Lp(a)were determined. Results:There were significant differences in TC and HDL between colorectal cancer group and control group(P<0.05).Among colorectal cancer patients with different tumor stages, only Lp(a)levels was significantly different(P<0.05).Moreover,Lp(a)levels were statistically significant only between stage Ⅰ,stage Ⅲ and stage Ⅳ(P<0.05).Conclusion:TC,HDL and Lp(a)may be used as the indicators to evaluate the course of colorectal cancer before operation, make treatment plan and judge prognosis.
