Abstract:Objective:To conduct a comprehensive comparison between quality-adjusted life-year(QALY)and equal value of life years gained(evLYG),providing a reference for selecting appropriate health utility meas-urement indicators in pharmacoeconomic evaluations. Methods:QALY and evLYG were compared with a detailed discussion of their calculation methods,as well as the advantages and disadvantages in the practical applications. Results:The use of evLYG as a health outcome measure more accurately reflects the actual value of the intervention protocol when assessing the health gain of the intervention protocol for patients with rare diseases, patients with severe disease severity, and special patient populations with a poor baseline health status. Conclusion:Both QALY and evLYG can be used as the health gain measures in pharmacoeconomic evaluations of intervention protocols for the special populations with the aim of achieving greater equity in healthcare resources allocation.
