Abstract：In recent years,due to environmental changes and species endangerment,the reserves of endangered Chinese medicinal materials have been increasingly depleted,causing the failure to meet the rising market demand. It is urgent to actively seek substitutes for rare and endangered Chinese medicinal materials. This article reviews relevant policies and regulations,and focuses on the status quo of substitutes for rare and endangered Chinese medicinal material. It proposes alternative strategies,including consistency based on Traditional Chinese Medicine theory of property,taste,channel-tropism and function,the consistency based on composition,the similarity based on kinship,and artificial synthesis,in order to provide references for the research and development of the substitutes of rare and endangered Chinese medicinal materials.
