Strategy and progress in research on multi-target drugs

Abstract：Since the"lock and key model"was proposed in the 19th century,drug research has tended to develop towards single target strategies.However,with the deepening of research,due to the complexity of diseases,it is difficult for single-target drugs to achieve the ideal therapeutic effect,so concomitant medication("cocktail"therapy)and multi-target drug research have attracted wide attention.Concomitant medication has certain limitations.In recent years,the strategy of developing a single chemical entity that acts on multiple targets simultaneously(multi-target drugs)has received extensive attention and become a new research hotspot.In this paper,the development strategy and research progress in multi-target drugs were reviewed.Besides common drugs,the application of multi-target drug research strategies to radiopharmaceuticals in the field of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging was also discussed.
