Meta-analysis of Yishenhuayu herbal formulation combined with tamsulosin hydrochloride in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia

Abstract:Objective:The purpose of this study is to systematically evaluate the clinical effect and safety of Yishenhuayu herbal formulation combined with tamsulosin hydrochloride in the treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia.Methods:The databases of China National Knowledge Infrastructure,VIP China Science and Technology Journal Database,Wanfang Data Service Platform,Pubmed,Embase,Web of Science,CBM as well as The Cochrane Library were used for the search for randomized controlled trials,which were about clinical observation on treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia with Yishenhuayu herbal formulation combined with tamsulosin hydrochloride.Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan 5.4 software.Results:Nine studies with a total of 801 cases were finally involved,among which the treatment group(407 cases)was Yishenhuayu herbal formulation combined with tamsulosin hydrochloride,and the control group(394 cases)was tamsulosin hydrochloride alone.Meta-analysis showed that,compared with the control group,total effective rate,maximum urinary flow rate and score of life quality were significantly improved in the treatment group,and that the international prostate scale score,the traditional Chinese medicine symptom score,the prostate volume and the residual urine volume decreased more obviously(P<0.000 01).However,the adverse reactions were not significantly different(P = 0.24).Conclusion:Compared with the control group,Yishenhuayu herbal formulation combined with tamsulosin hydrochloride has a significant effect on lower urinary tract symptoms caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia with good safety.
