Progress in researches on evaluation models of placental transfer

Abstract：Drug safety in pregnant women has become a key problem in clinical medication.Before clinical medication,it is compulsory to accurately predict the process of transport and metabolism of drugs when they penetrate the placental barrier in vivo,which can provide some valuable information for guiding safe medication in gestation period.Placenta is a place where material exchange takes place between matrix and fetus.Several models of in vitro placental barrier have been established to evaluate drug permeability.In this article,some models to duplicate human placental barrier in vitro and their features were reviewed.It is significant to utilize certain appropriate models to investigate the mechanisms of drug transport in placental barrier for safe medication in pregnant women.
