Abstract:Long-term or even lifetime use of antipsychotics is considered to be effective in controlling the symptoms of schizophrenia (SZ) or preventing recurrence.Until now,the evaluation of the efficacy and side effects of these drugs still depends on subjective, empirical judgments, which is difficult to meet the needs of accurate medical care. Therefore, seeking more objective, precise or individual response evaluation of treatment response has being an urgent need. The research technique of metabolomics has been widely used in many fields because of its advantages in the comprehensive analysis of all metabolites in vivo or tissues. It also gradually began to be used in field of psychiatry. This review will provide an insight to markers and related pathways of antipsychotic drugs' efficacy and adverse reactions in different biological organizations from both clinical and basic researches. It will provide some reference for predicting the differences of treatment response in patients and for selecting or replacing therapy drugs.
