Research progress in the technology evolution and action modes of bispecific antibodies

Abstract：Bispecific antibodies (BsAb) combine the specificities of two kinds of antibodies and simultaneously address different antigens or epitopes.The particular mechanism of action makes BsAb to be compelling therapeutic agents.Following years of research and development (R&D),the first BsAb was approved in 2009,another BsAb entered the market in 2014,and several more are undergoing clinical trials.There are no bispecific antibodies in the natural state and they can only be prepared by special methods.With the rapid development of basic and applied research of life science,the molecular mode and preparation technology of BsAb are constantly evolving and the mechanism of action is constantly innovated.The application range extends from tumor and inflammatory diseases to genetic diseases.BsAb have potentials to become the next wave of antibody-based therapies.
