Abstract：Salvia miltiorrhiza has a long history of application in China,and its chemical ingredients consist of both water-soluble components (tanshinol,salvianolic acid A,salvianolic acid B,rosmarinic acid,protocatechuic acid,protocatechuic aldehyde,lithospermic acid,caffeic acid and so on) and lipid-soluble components (tanshinone Ⅰ,dihydrotanshinone Ⅰ,tanshinone ⅡA,tanshinone ⅡB,cryptotanshinone and so on).Here,the researches on the metabolic pathways and metabolites of major active constituents from S.miltiorrhiza were reviewed to provide pharmacokinetics information for clarifying the in vivo metabolism,pharmacodyamic basis and action mechanisms of S.miltiorrhiza.
