Abstract:Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease that leads to inflammation and destruction of synovial joints.Although many drugs for this heterogeneous disease have been discovered,30% of patients still cannot be well controlled. Therefore,it is particularly important to find new therapeutic targets and develop new therapeutic drugs. Two pathways, named the Janus kinase (JAK) pathway and the T helper-17 (Th17) pathway, which are regarded as interesting novel therapeutic targets in the field of rheumatology, are discussed. The treatment potential of biologicals and the small-molecule inhibitors that can block these pathways are also reviewed in this paper.
