Pharmacological and clinical evaluation of GLP-1 receptor agonist——lixisenatide

Abstract:Lixisenatide is one of the Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists which should be used subcutaneously.It is mainly indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.The most common adverse events were nausea,vomiting,headache,diarrhea,and dizziness.A literature search was conducted with the key word lixisenatide.The pharmacology,pharmacokinetics,clinical research,safety,dosage,and drug interactions were reviewed in this paper.
