Abstract:The kidney is a major target for drug-induced toxicity.Drug-induced nephrotoxicity remains a major problem in research & development of drugs and clinical settings. The high throughput screening (HTS) in vitro model has become an important research method, which can improve screening efficiency of many compounds in time and cost.Though there are more and more researches on in vitro models for assessment of drug-induced nephrotoxicity, validated nephrotoxic prediction model is still absent because of nephrotoxicity specificity. At present, the nephrotoxicity research is mainly based on traditional 2D cell model, and 3D cell model is at the stage of exploration. This review summarizes the latest advances of HTS in vitro nephrotoxicity assessment models.
