Abstract：As the only transporter expressed in kidney in OATP family,OATP4C1 participates in the transmembrane transport of various endogenous substances and xenobiotics,including thyroid hormone,cardiac glucosides and uremic toxins,which plays a vital role in the elimination process.This paper summarizes the structure and major function of OATP4C1,as well as its renal transport and associated clinical significance under the goal of exploring transporter-guided therapeutic strategy and preventing transporter mediated clinical drug-drug interaction.
