Abstract：SS-02 [Dmt1] DALDA (H-Dmt-D-Arg-Phe-Lys-NH2,Dmt:2,6-dimethyl-L-tyrosine) is an opioid derived from dermorphin,which is a highly potent analgesic with capability of crossing the cell membrane.Intensive study on the underlying mechanism of SS-02 induced to the discovery of a mitochondria-targeted antioxidant of SS-31 (H-D-Arg-Dmt-Lys-Phe-NH2).SS-31 is effective for many conditions including ischemia-reperfusion injury,neurodegenerative diseases,heart failure,muscle atrophy and weakness.This review focuses on the discovery of SS-31 and the progress in its pharmacology research and clinical study.
