Abstract：Empagliflozin is sodium/glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor and a new type of hypoglycemic agent with a new mechanism of action.The mechanism,pharmacodynamics,pharmacokinetics,clinical evaluation and safety of empagliflozin were reviewed in this paper.
