Abstract:With all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) and arsenic trioxide (ATO) being applied in the clinical treatment of acute myeloid leukemia (APL),the prognosis of patients has been dramatically improved. But there are still about 10% of the patients who relapse, and the drug resistance mechanisms are very complex.Glutathione and its enzyme system,ATP-binding cassette transporter protein, the abnormal expression of apoptosis related genes or signaling pathways, the genetic mutations in the PML moiety of the PML-RARA fusion gene and other results may cause the drug-resistant to ATO.In this review we gave a summary in this field.
