Abstract:Objective; To study the effect of matrine on angiotensin Ⅱ ( Ang Ⅱ )-induced preliferation and collagen synthesis in human fetal lung fibroblast (HFL-I) cells, and the anti-fibrosis mechanism. Methods; Matrine at various concentrations treated HFL-I cells for 48 h in the absence or presence of Ang Ⅱ. Cell proliferation was determined by thiazolyl blue (MTT) reduction assay, and synthesis of collagen was observed by measuring the hydroxyproline concentration. Results: Matrine inhibited Ang Ⅱ -induced HFL-I cell proliferation and collagen synthsis in a concentration-dependent manner (P<0. 01). Conclusion: Matrine inhibits Ang Ⅱ -induced fibrosis through inhibiting proliferation and collagen synthesis in HFL-I cells.
