Abstract:Objective: To explore the effects of flavones from Zea Mays L(ZMLF) on blood lipid and he-morheology in hyperlipidemic rats. Methods; Sixty Wistar rats were randomly divided into 5 groups; they fed with normal diet, or high fat diet to induce hyperlipidemia. ZMLF was administered for 40 days, then serum lipid and hemorrheologic indexes were measured. Results; The levels of TC, TG, LDL-C and apoB100 decreased significantly (P <0. 05) , and those of HDL-C, apoAI and apoAI/apoB100 ratio increased(P <0. 05). The contents of the high, middle and low blood viscosity, plasma adhesion, hematocrit (HCT) , RBC rigid index (IER) , RBC aggregation index (IEA) decreased significantly(P<0.05) ; while RBC deformation index (IED) increased significantly (P<0.05). Conclusion; ZMLF can prevent high-fat diet-induced lipid metabolism disorders and the abnormal hemorheology.
