Effect of Scutellaria barbata extract on XIAP protein expression in human nasopharyngeal carcinoma CNE-2 cells
Abstract：Objective: To investigate the effect of Scutellaria barbata extract (SBE) on X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein (XIAP) protein expression in nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells. Methods: In nasopharyngeal carcinoma (CNE-2) cells, MTT assay was used to observe the in vitro sensitivity to SBE. Immunocytochemical method (SP) was applied to examine the expression of XIAP protein in CNE-2 cells. Results: SBE showed a con-centration-dependent inhibition of CNE-2 cell proliferation (P<0.01). Compared with control, the expression level of the XIAP protein was obviously decreased after treatment with SBE (13.44 μg·mL~(-1), P<0.01). Conclusion: SBE can obviously inhibit proliferation of CNE-2 cells.
