Abstract:Objective: To establish a method for determining the content of adapalene in liposomes. Methods: The first derivative UV spectrophotometry was used to determine the content of adapalene in liposome with wavelength at 279 nm. Results: The excipients in the liposome did not interfere with the assay. Linear relationship between the values of first derivative and the concentration of adapalene was obtained in the range of 6.12 ~ 36.72 μg· mL~(-1)(r=0.999 7). The average recovery of samples was 99.42% with RSD 0.72% (n=9) ; RSD of the intra-and inter-day precision were lower than 1% (n = 5). The results of first derivative spectrophotometry were not significantly different from those of HPLC method as analyzed by Paired-Samples T test. Conclusion: The method is simple, quick and accurate. It is suitable for determination of adapalene content in the liposomes.
