Abstract:Objective: To establish a GC-MS method for the analysis of the chemical components of essential oil from Saccharum Alhagi. Methods: The essential oils were extracted by water-steam distillation and separated by GC capillary column chromatography. The components were calculated with normalization methods, and were identified by MS detector. Results: Sixty-two components were identified from the essential oils and their amount accounted to be 93.94%. The main components were 2,3-dimethylbutane, methylcyclopentane, 5-acetyldihydro-2 (3H)-furanone, 3-hexanone, 2-ethyl-1-dodecene, and heptane. Conclusion: This method can be applied to analyze the essential oil components extracted from Saccharum Alhagi.
