Abstract:Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is an autoimmune disease, in which platelets were destructed due to the effects of antiplatelet antibodies, causing severe bleeding. Cortieosteroids, immunosuppressants, anti-CD20 antibody and splenectomy have been used for the conventional therapy of ITP. However, relapse and adverse reactions occurred frequently after the conventional therapy. Romiplostim is a recombinant Fc-peptide fusion protein which could increase platelet counts in patients with chronic ITP. Its action mechanism, pharmacodynamies, pharmacokinetics and clinical therapeutics of romiplostim were reviewed in this paper.
