Preparation of compound extracts of maize plumule cream and evaluation of its skin safety

Abstract：Objective:To prepare extracts of maize plumule(EMP) cream (O/W) and evaluate its skin safety. Methods:EMP cream was prepared with suitable surfactant by emulsification. The safety of EMP in skin was evaluated by animal test and human skin patch test according to the methods of toxicological test of Hygienic Stand-ard for Cosmetics (2007). Results:EMP cream had good stability. The saftey evaluation showed no toxicity, stimu-lation, sensitization and phototoxicity to the skin. Conclusion:As a new antioxidant, EMP has good compatibility and can be used in the industry of drug and cosmetics.
