Utilization of antibiotics in 22 hospitals in Nanjing city during 2007

Abstract：Objective: To evaluate the utilization tendency of antibiotics in 22 hospitals in Nanjing city. Methods:The use of antibiotics agent in 22 hospitals in Nanjing during 2007 was statistically analyzed in terms of drug varieties,consumption and DDDs. Results:The consumption sum of β-1actam antibiotics was 6.8 hundred mil-lion Yuan. The β-lactam antibiotics and quinolones accounted for more than half of the market share. The forefront of DDDs ranking was mainly levofloxacin, roxithromycin and amoxicillin. Conclusion: The consumption sum and DDDs ranking of antibiotics in Nanjing city during 2007 were stable and normal; however, the use of antibiotics should be further monitored for rational use of antibiotics.
