Abstract:Objective: To evaluate inhibitory effect of tectorigenin from Pueraria flos on proliferation of hu-man hepatocarcinoma SMMC-7721 cells. Methods: Tectorigenin was added into the cultures of SMMC-7721 cells in log phase growth. The morphologic changes were observed 24 h after treatment with an inverted microscope. The inhibitory effect on proliferation of tumor cells was evaluated by MTT assay. The rate of early apoptosis was meas-ured by flow cytometer using Annexin V-FITC/PI double staining. Results: After tectorigenin treatment for 24 h, the cells became smaller, rounder and thicker. The adherent cells were much fewer after tectorigenin treatment. nificantly higher than control(P < 0. 01). Conclusion: Tectorigenin has significantly inhibitory effect on prolifera-tion of SMMC-7721 cells, which is related to promoting apoptosis.
