Abstract:Objective: To observe the efficacy and safety of domestic tiotropium bromide inhalation in pa-tients with stable mild and moderate chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD). Methods: A randomized and double blind placebo-controlled clinical trail was conducted in patients with COPD. A total of 60 patients were as-signed to receive tiotropium bromide by inhalation or conventional therapy(control). The following indices between two groups were compared before and after treatment: lung function, 6 minute walk distance, scores of clinical symptoms and times of exacerbation. Meanwhile, we observed the adverse reactions in two groups. Results: In tiotropium group, the FEV1, FVC and IC significantly increased, 6 minute walk distance and clinical symptoms were improved better, and the times of exacerbation were reduced as compared with the control group(P <0.05). Significant adverse reactions were not found during the treatment. Conclusion: Domestic tiotropium bromide inha-lation is an effective and safe bronchodilator in treating mild to moderate COPD.
