Current studies on modulation of cancer multidrug resistance by flavonoids

Abstract：Multi-drug resistance(MDR) is one of the key causes of failures in cancer chemotherapy. Fla-vonoids are broadly distributed in plants and have multiple pharmacological activities. The flavonoids may be possi-ble modulators of MDR because they have inhibitory activity on drug transporters, such as P-gp, MRP and BCRP. This article summarized the inhibitory effects of flavonoids on ABC transporters in aspects of research process, ac-tion mechanism and structure-activity relationship, in order to provide important information for development and application of the modulators.
