Study on inclusion complexes of hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin with puerarin

Abstract：Objective:To investigate the inclusion complex formation of puerarin with hydroxypropyl-(β-cy-clodextrin by phase solubility method,and to evaluate the effect of temperature on the reaction through thermody-namics. Methods: The inclusion complex formation of puerarin was prepared using lyopyilization technique,and the stable inclusion complex in solid state was characterized by DSC,SEM and FT-IR. The formation constant of puerar-in-hydroxypropyl-p- cyclodextrin was determined. Results: Puerarin formed an optimal inclusion complex with hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin at a molar ratio of 1 : 1 ,and the change of entropy,enthalpy and free energy of the re-action were calculated. The inclusion reaction processed more easily with the increased temperature. Conclusion: The inclusion process of puerarin and hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin is a spontaneous process.
