Abstract:Carisbamate is a novel neuromodulator that has displayed its favorable antiepileptic effect in a broad spectrum of animal seizure models. Current studies show it can be used to partial-onset seizures and photopar-oxysmal responses. It appears to be generally well tolerated. There are no clinically significant interactions between carisbamate and some antiepileptic drugs. Carisbamate may become a prospective antiepileptic drug in clinical use.
