Abstract:Objective:The present study investigated the implantable and controlled drug delivery device (CDDD) by 3D printing, and the releasing character of the devices. Methods:The CDDD was fabricated by 3D printing technique with L-PLA as pharmaceutical excipient, and gentamicin (GTM) was used as a model drug. As compared with the 3D process, the conventional process was also used for fabrication the IDDS. The cross-sectional morphology and the in vitro release were simultaneously tested to evaluate the devices. Results: A type of implant-able CDDD with complicated architectures was designed and built with 3D printing process, and its in vitro release behavior was tested to meet initial design criteria. Conclusion:The 3D printing technique using in pharmaceutical field have the peerless advantage over the conventional technique.
