Research progress on tannins

Abstract：Tannins, especially the tannins in medical plants, were studied by Japanese professor Takuo Okuda and the other researchers 30 years ago. Hundreds kinds of tannins have been obtained now. With the devel-opment of isolation methods and spectrum technology, rapid extraction progress has been made on tannins, espe-cially in resent years. A large number of new tannins with biological activities were found. This paper makes a sum-mary of chemical constituents on tannins, especially tannins with biological activities, in order to provide references for the further research.
