A selective cooxygenase-2 inhibitor for injection: parecoxib sodium

Abstract:parecoxib sodium, the first injection preparation of selective cyclooxygenase-2 inhibitors, is used as an analgesic for acute postoperative pain. Its efficacy has been proved in the stomatologic, gynecologic, or orthopedic surgery. Intravenous paricoxib 40 rag, twice a day, can also reduce the morphine consumption and im-prove postoperative analgesia. In this review, we summarized the pharmacological mechanism, clinical research and safety of parecoxib.
