Comparison of the therapeutic effects of pefloxacin mesylate and sparfloxacin in treatment of 80 cases of urinary tract infections

Abstract：Objective:To compare the therapeutic effects of pefloxacin mesylate and sparfloxacin in treatment of urinary tract infections.Methods:80 patients with urinary tract infections were equally divided to receive twice daily oral 0.1g pefloxacin mesylate or twice daily oral 0.1g sparfloxacin for 5～10d.Results:The effective rate was 90.0% for pefloxacin mesylate vs 92.1% for sparfloxacin,the cure rate was 77.5% for pefloxacin mesylate vs 78.9% for sparfloxacin.No significant difference in effective rate and care rate between groups was observed but pefloxacin appeared to be superior to sparfloxacin in adverse events.Conclusion:Pefloxacin mesylate is as effective as sparfloxacin in treatment of urinary tract infections.
