Abstract:Objective:To observe the feasibility of lamivudine in pr eventing and treating the replication and reinfection of hepatitis B virus in pa tients with nephratic syndrome treated with prednisone.Methods:5 patie nts with nephratic syndrome and positive marker of hepatitis B virus, were treate d with oral prednisone or combination therapy of mycophenolate mofetil and lamiv udine. The pre- and post-treatment changes in marker of hepatitis B virus and i n liver functions were observed. Results:After 3 months treatment,HBeAg turned to negative in 1 patient and ALT and AST turned to normal in 1 patient. After 6 months treatment,HBeAg turned to negative in 1 patient and no exacebatio n in marker of hepatitis B virus and liver functions was observed in patients. Conclusion:Lamivudine is effective in preventing and treating replicatio n and reinfection of hepatitis B virus in patients with nephratic syndrome treat ed with prednisone.
