Abstract：Objective:To study the efficacy and safety of cefepi me in treatment of lower respiratory infections.Methods:79 patient s with lower respiratory infections were treated with twice daily of 2.2 g cefep ime given by intravenous infusion for 7～14 days.Results:The total effective rate,bacterial eradication rate and the incidence of side effects wer e 86.1%,83.8% and 1.3% respectively with a susceptibility of 83.8% to 68 bacteri a isolated.It has an antimicrobial activities similar to imipenem/cilasta tin(Tinam) and more active than ceftazidime,levofloxacin,and amikacin.Concl usion:Cefepime is an effective and safe agent for treatment of lower respi ratory tract infections.
