Abstract:The action of PET,a quantitative and multidimensional ph otograhic technique,is realized by detecting some pairs of gamma ray which are o pposite in direction but with equal energy of 511 keV photron, produced in proces s of annihilating positrons emitted from ultrashort radionuclides and electron f rom media. It is mainly used in studying the biochemical reaction accompanying th e process for realization of the physiological function of main organs or tissue s in living body.It can also be directly used in studying the bilgogical behavio r,efficacy, and toxicity of drugs in vivo .Therefore,PET has a broad prospect in drug research. In this paper, the instrument and mechanism of PET,radiolabeled compounds for PET studies, and its applications in drug research and its limitat ion were reviewed.
