PREPARATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF INCLUSION COMPOUND OF DIGOXIN AND β-CYCLODEXTRIN

Abstract：OBJECTIVE: To prepare digoxin-β-cyclodextrin (dig-β-CD), an inclusion compound. METHODS: Dig-β-CD was prepared by stirring method and the digoxin content in the inclusion compound was determined by UV and HPLC. RESULTS: The UV spectra of digoxin and its inclusion compound are identical but the diffraction peak of digoxin crystal is disappeared. DSC analysis shows the same change. CONCLUSIONS: Digoxin reacts with β-cyclodextrin to form an inclusion compound, digoxin-β- cyclodet rin.
