Abstract:Ischemic heart disease(IHD)encompasses a range of heart conditions resulting from insufficient blood supply to the heart muscle via the coronary arteries, leading to myocardial ischemia, hypoxia,or necrosis. It is one of the leading causes of death globally.Recent large-scale cardiovascular studies have confirmed that sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors(SGLT-2i)not only effectively lower blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes but also significantly reduce the risk of cardiovascular adverse events. This paper systematically reviews pertinent basic research and clinical trial literature to analyze the multiple mechanisms of SGLT-2i in IHD and some of its clinical efficacy, including reducing the progression of atherosclerosis, microvascular dysfunction, and myocardial damage associated with IHD.The review aims to provide deeper insights into the clinical application of SGLT-2i in managing IHD.
