Abstract:Atrial myxoma is a common benign cardiac tumor characterized by a loose structure that is prone to fragmentation and detachment due to the impact of blood flow. This can lead to complications such as cerebral embolism and pulmonary embolism. We report a rare case of tumor thrombus detachment and embolization to the coronary artery. The patient was an elderly female who presented with sudden chest tightness and pain without obvious causes.Routine electrocardiogram and myocardial enzyme spectrum indicated acute myocardial infarction, and cardiac ultrasound showed atrial myxoma and heart failure. The absence of symptoms indicative of other organ vascular embolism such as cerebral embolism and pulmonary embolism, complicated the diagnosis. This condition is easily misdiagnosed as a typical atrial myxoma accompanied by coronary atherosclerotic heart disease, leading to the potential oversight of the tumor thrombus.Upon the patient's arrival at our center,we conducted comprehensive examinations that accurately identified the underlying cause of her acute myocardial infarction, ultimately resulting in successful treatment. This case highlights the importance of proper diagnosis and management of acute myocardial infarction complicated by acute heart failure due to coronary artery occlusion caused by atrial myxoma.
